STAFF FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Our international staff ventured to Northern Michigan from far and wide. In 2023 Hayo-Went-Ha Camps will have representatives from about 15 different countries. Our diversity is by design. We believe that having a unique blend of cultures unquestionably make our camp community better. After a summer at Hayo-Went-Ha Camps, you will have made friends from all over the world that will last a lifetime. Plus, you'll probably have a bunch of new friends to visit when on holiday.

STAFF TRAINING

Staff training is a vital part of our leaders’ success. In the two weeks, before the campers arrive, all cabin leaders receive extensive training.

  • Program description and participation
  • Camper characteristics
  • Rules and regulations
  • Liability issues
  • Learn traditions
  • Diversity training
  • Staff bonding and team building
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding

WILDERNESS TRIPS

Our staff annually participate on a multiday shakedown where staff hone their camping skills and learn all about the equipment, food, safety procedures, trip locations and the great outdoors.

CERTIFICATIONS

Our training also includes specific certifications depending on your position. If you are a cabin leader, you will be trained in Red Cross CPR, Red Cross Wilderness First Aid, and Red Cross Lifeguarding. These certifications last two years and are recognized around the world.
