NAVIGATORS

The Navigator Program offers the ultimate sailing adventure, paired with fun and engaging in-camp activities. Campers dive into sailing by learning essential skills like nomenclature, rigging, and the fundamentals needed to become a skipper. During their time at camp, they’ll also enjoy various on-site activities while gaining confidence on the beautiful waters of Torch Lake.

Navigators spend at least two days focusing intensively on sailing, practicing on our larger scow and keelboat vessels. These sessions are designed to provide hands-on experience and a solid foundation in sailing techniques.

The highlight of the program is a thrilling 14-day voyage with All Hands Sailing, exploring the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. This is a learning expedition, not a pleasure cruise—campers will take on different crew roles aboard a larger sailing vessel, where they’ll be challenged to build their sailing skills and work as a team.

Along the way, they’ll encounter exciting destinations (weather permitting), with possible stops at Pictured Rocks, Isle Royale, and even the Slate Islands. Since the trip is close to Canadian waters, campers are encouraged to bring passports. The Navigator Program offers a unique blend of in-camp fun and a real sailing adventure, giving campers unforgettable experiences and valuable skills on the open water.
