BUBBLEMAKER
The PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Bubblemaker program is a fantastic opportunity for younger campers (ages 8-9) to experience breathing underwater for the first time. Torch Lake offers so much to explore, and the Bubblemaker program is just an introduction to this way of exploring our world.
The program consists of one land class and a single dive at camp. The land class session runs through the basics of SCUBA equipment, safety, and skills. Campers stay close to shore under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. PADI limits the depth of these dives to 6 feet, which is still enough to get more than a taste of SCUBA.
Within those 6 feet, your young diver will see some camp history, fish, crayfish, and much more. They will explore the rock bar that protects our sandy beach, play some games, and practice the skills they learned in the land class.
Please note: all participants must pass the yellow swim test. They must swim 50 feet, turn around, and swim 50 feet back without touching or resting.
The PADI Bubblemaker experience is not a certification. This is an opportunity for your child to explore underwater with a PADI instructor. It is not meant to allow for future diving on your own.

DISCOVER SCUBA
The PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) Discover SCUBA course is one of our most popular scuba programs. Discover SCUBA lets your child experience diving for the first time or build on previous experiences in the Bubblemaker program or a previous PADI Discover Scuba course.
This program consists of one land class and two dives at camp. The land class session runs through the basics of SCUBA equipment, safety, and skills. Campers start by learning about equipment and basic skills and then have the opportunity to do two dives of increasing depth while under the direct supervision of a PADI professional.
Our PADI-certified instructors run all dives in a safe and controlled manner, accounting for the ability and comfort of all divers. Divers will explore the shallows around the swim area, the rock bar just off the shore of our sandy beach, and some historic structures remaining from days gone by. In the second dive, we go deeper to explore parts of the lake that few ever see. Your child will experience changes in bottom contour, temperature, animal life, and more as they explore those depths.
Discover Scuba is for all campers ages ten and older. If your child has yet to turn 10, inquire about the PADI Bubblemaker program.
Please note: all participants must have completed the yellow swim test. They must swim 50 feet, turn around, and swim 50 feet back without touching or resting.
The PADI Discover SCUBA experience is not a certification. This is an opportunity for your child to explore underwater with a PADI instructor. It is not meant to, nor will it allow for future diving on your own.
