Each Hayo-Went-Ha program has its own packing list. Depending on the mode of travel and duration of the trip, some pieces of equipment may vary. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Some general guidelines:
- We discourage campers from taking jeans and cotton clothes on trips due to weight and water retention. Absorbent materials will hold onto water if caught in the rain and may become unnecessarily uncomfortable.
- Sleeping bags, internal frame backpacks, and other personal camping gear can be expensive but may be used for years to come. We hope families will consider these an investment. Some personal equipment may be available to borrow from camp.
- If you are having trouble finding the right gear, please contact us; we are happy to help.
- We provide all of the group gear, such as tents, stoves, cookware, and water purification, on trips.

Bedding
The camp mattresses are 30 in x 75 in and work well with standard twin-size sheets and blankets if you want to send them. Many campers use a sleeping bag for the duration of their stay at camp.
Campers flying to camp may elect to purchase a bedding set (towel, two sheets, two blankets, pillow, and pillowcase) at the time of registration. Supplies are limited, and we can only offer this to those who are flying and are limited in how much they can pack.
During their expedition, most campers will sleep on the ground on an inflatable or foam sleeping pad. If you need help selecting a sleeping pad, please contact us.
